(Autorenreferat)... view less

'In order to resolve the problem of child labour in Brazil, the Brazilian government developed and initialized the Child Labour Eradication Program (PETI) in 1996. If the conditions are met, the legal guardians will receive a stipend of 25 reais if they live in the countryside and 40 reais if they live in town. The children have to be enrolled in school, attend the classes as well as the after-school activities of the PETI and have to give up the work they have done so far. The following article is about the question what this program means for the children and adolescents and which influence the participation in the PETI can have on the development of identity. As a theoretical basis of this line of thoughts serves the identity theory of the social psychologist Erik H. Erikson (1902-1994).' (author's abstract)|... view less
