'This article refers the main results of a research project, which analyses the importance of peers for school career of firstly eleven-year-old children. At the same time, it considers the significance of peer-groups for the reproduction of educational inequality. After an introduction into the current related discussion of the interdependent relation between school career, peers and social inequality in the context of childhood and educational research, the objectives, theoretical resources and the methodological framework of the research project will be outlined. Following, two patterns of the relation between school career, peer-orientations and their involvement into their social environment will be exemplified by two cases. Finally, the complete range of the empirical extracted patterns will be described and related to the research discourse about the making of social inequality within school and peer-contexts.'
