'EU enlargement, the lack of skilled workforce, and recession forecasts identify particular challenges for economic, particularly labour market policies in Central and Eastern Europe. The article presents the project 'Skilled Workers Monitoring' (FAMO). From 2008 to 2012, surveys will investigate into potential labour migration and the qualification of those migrants in Vienna as well as in the Slovak regions of Trnava and Bratislava. In parallel, the project focuses on analyzing the demand for skilled workers in exactly these regions. Referring to data of the Labour Market Monitoring I and II projects, a basis for argumentation should be established to serve economic and political decision makers. In addition to economic development, this allows recommending specific measures.' (author's abstract)|... view less
