'The relevance of intercultural experiences for the socialisation of young (criminalized) migrants is often referred to but not empirically analysed. In a comparative analysis of young peer groups of Turkish origin, intercultural experiences and stereotypes are reconstructed in the frame of collective biographies. It is possible to identify cultural borders not only between ethnic groups but also between generations and life-orientations. Where such borders cannot be overcome communicatively the youth are bound to the neighbourhood milieu of the young migrant generation.' (author's abstract)|... view less
