'The article explores the influence of changed concepts of sexuality on the family system. The key question focuses on alterations of implicit foundations of the family definition. More specifically, these are: heterosexual orientation, lifelong monogamy, the sexual relationship between the parents, and the joint household community and biological kinship with the children. Recent family-sociological trends in the Anglo-American countries show that empirical studies increasingly indicate the following conclusion: the conventional family definition addresses the social practice, i.e. the concrete everyday life of families, only insufficiently. The article reveals that changes in the evaluation of sexuality impact the daily routine of families and, in addition, imply also legal consequences.' (author's abstract)|... view less
