"Der Beitrag zeigt anhand eines Vergleiches von Belarus und Polen, welche Faktoren für einen erfolgreichen Reformprozess von Bedeutung sind und warum infolgedessen einige Transformationsländer trotz weitgehend ähnlicher Ausgangsbedingungen wesentlich erfolgreicher diesen Prozess meistern als andere. Vier Faktoren erweisen sich als relevant: nationale Identität, Elitenwechsel, marktwirtschaftliche Mentalität sowie internationale Verflechtung." (Autorenreferat)
