'Formal Concept Analysis is a method for the conceptual and graphical representation of data based on a mathematical definition of the concept of 'concept'. Using the data on judgements on the importance of different work outcomes ('work values') in the ALLBUS basline study 1991 we apply Formal Concept Analysis and demonstrate that it enables much more deeper insights into the data than e.g. correlation matrices. It leads also to a uniform graphical representation of multidimensional contingency tables. We obtain precise conceptual and structural informations, especially, that Alderfer's ERG-hypothesis on existence, relatedness, and growth can not be confirmed using these these data.'
