"Corporate cultural responsibility describes the cultural commitment of firms, such as the buildup of art collections, cultural provisions for employees, sponsoring of art and culture as well as patronage. This article presents the results of a survey of the cultural commitment of nine Austrian companies. Patterns and instruments of the commitment, the motives and the target groups are being explained. The survey demonstrates that in the context of restricted public funds the firms assign to themselves the responsibility of taking over some of the functions of the state. Firms, however, only want to complement but not substitute the public support for culture." (author's abstract)... view less
