Abstract

"If understanding the process that generated the data is the aim of data analysis, graphically aided analysis techniques are necessary for the development of useful statistical models. Despite this fact, graphical techniques are underused in the social sciences. Possible reasons for this neglect are discussed. A catalogue of useful graphically aided techniques and their software implementations are presented." (author's abstract)

Wenn das Ziel der Datenanalyse ist, den Prozess zu verstehen, der die Daten erzeugt, sind grafisch gestützte Analysetechniken für die Entwicklung von geeigneten statistischen Modellen notwendig. Trotz dieser Tatsache werden grafische Techniken in den Sozialwissenschaften selten genutzt. Es werden mögliche Erklärungen für diese Vernachlässigung diskutiert. Ein Katalog von geeigneten grafisch gestützten Techniken und ihren Software-Implementierungen wird vorgestellt. (ICIÜbers)
