Innovationsprozesse im Maschinenbau

Abstract

"Das Papier befasst sich mit der historischen Entwicklung von Innovationsprozessen im deutschen Maschinenbau und ihre Konsequenzen für die Struktur der Branche. Ausgangspunkt der Argumentation ist, dass produktionstechnische Innovationsprozesse notwendigerweise einen ausgeprägten Anwendungsbezug aufweisen und daher seit jeher von einer engen Vernetzung verschiedener Akteure charakterisiert sind. Dabei dominieren seit Beginn der Industrialisierung ausgeprägt anwendungsbezogene Innovationsstrukturen mit inkrementellen Innovationen, die nur phasenweise von Innovationsschüben unterbrochen wurden. Seit den 80er Jahren ist allerdings aufgrund des zunehmenden ökonomischen Drucks und neuer technologischer Potentiale ein Auflösungsprozess des eingespielten Innovationsmusters erkennbar. Damit zusammen hängt zugleich eine Erosion der bisherigen brancheninternen Strukturen des Maschinenbaus und seiner Grenzen nach außen." (Autorenreferat)

"This paper deals with the historical development of innovation processes in the German mechanical engineering industry and its consequences for the structure of this industrial sector. Innovation processes in the mechanical engineering industry are characterized by a distinct and stable orientation towards the needs of users and the context in which the new technology is to be used. Innovation here is usually carried on in networks of producers and users. Since the early days of industrialization application-oriented, step-by-step innovation dominated only occasionally interrupted by major shifts in technology. Due to the increasing economic competition and the rise of new potentials in technology-production this traditional innovation pattern has been eroding since the 80ies. As a consequence a significant change of the internal structures and boundaries of the mechanical engineering industry can be observed." (author's abstract)
