A forma mais simples e imediata de definir em poucas palavras a hermêutica é chamá-la de "arte ou técnica da interpretação". Segundo Scheleimacher os gregos teriam sido os iniciadores dessa arte, quando buscavam interpretar os versos de seus poetas. Platão pode ser visto como um desses hermeneutas antigos das obras poéticas, ao lado dos sofistas que se proclamavam como os melhores intérpretes da arte de Homero. Neste artigo procuramos acompanhar um pouco dessa hermenêutica platônica apresentada por Sócrates nos diálogos Íon e Protágoras. According Scheleimacher the initiators of this practice were greeks, since they seeking to interpret the verse of his poets. Along with Sophists, Plato may be considered like one these antique hermeutical of poetic creation, that proclaimed themselves the best Homero's hermeuticals.
