This volume of the Institute for Social Research, ISF Munich, presents four contributions which came about within the context of the project "CIM-Technology-Transfer" condueted by the PFT Karlsruhe. All articles deal with the design alternatives of work and personnel structures in cases of Computer integrated manufacturing, as well as with problems and possible Solutions for realizing technological-organizational Innovation. As production work is becoming an increasingly important qualitative component of modern manufacturing Systems, foresighted personnel policies must be an integrated part in the planning and introduction of CIM-systems. The existing design alternatives lie between the two opposite poles of an extensive differentiation and specialization of tasks and functions on the one hand, and its comprehensive reintegration on the other. Structures of skilled and cooperative production work are superior to alternative concepts in terms of business efficiency as well as with regard to the humanization of work. According to the given external and internal structures of individual companies the actual introduction of new forms of work Organization, however, meets with considerable problems and therefore makes high demands on planning and implementation processes.... view less
