Zur Zukunftsfähigkeit der (qualitativen) Psychologie

Abstract

Versucht man, die Zukunftschancen für die Psychologie zehn Jahre nach Gründung der "Neuen Gesellschaft für Psychologie (NGfP)" einzuschätzen, so haben wir einen ständig wachsenden Bedarf an professioneller psychologischen Dienstleistungen zu konstatieren. Solche Dienstleistungen werden jedoch nicht automatisch von PsychologInnen nachgefragt werden. Der gegenwärtige Zustand der psychologischen Wissenschaft in Deutschland als eine nomothetische Wissenschaft stellt keine optimale Grundlage für die Ausbildung professioneller BeraterInnen z.B. im psychosozialen und im Management – Bereich dar, weil praktisch arbeitende PsychologInnen meistens mit Einzelfällen zu tun haben, was wesentlich eine qualitative Arbeitsweise erfordert. Deshalb wird die Zukunft der Psychologie nicht zuletzt von der Elaboration qualitativer methodologischer Konzepte innerhalb einer pluralistischen psychologischen Wissenschaft abhängen. Vorbedingung für eine Sicherung der Identität des Fachs ist die Etablierung eines wissenschaftlichen Meta-Diskurses, der unterschiedliche methodologische Zugangsweisen zum wissenschaftlichen Objekt akzeptiert. Ein solcher sich der Alltagssprache bedienender Diskurs wird Protopsychologie genannt. Protopsychologie muss sich auseinandersetzen mit der Zuordnung unterschiedlicher methodologischer Zugangsweisen zu speziellen Typen von Situationen gesellschaftlicher Praxis in einer pluralistischen Gesellschaft und dabei die Nützlichkeit wissenschaftlichen psychologischen Wissens nachweisen. Auf der Grundlage dieser Argumentation muss ebenfalls die Struktur der wissenschaftlichen Produktion überdacht werden, weil in der Zukunft psychologisches Wissen mehr in praktisch-psychologischer Tätigkeit als in wissenschaftlichen Labors geschaffen werden muss; anderenfalls kann es nicht übertragen werden auf die Arbeitssituation praktisch tätiger PsychologInnen und keine Grundlage abgeben für eine Beteiligung von PsychologInnen an gesellschaftskritischen Diskursen.

If we attempt to assess the future prospects for psychology ten years after the founding of the "Neue Gesellschaft für Psychologie" (NGfP), we find a steadily increasing demand for professional psychological services. However, such services will not automatically be sought from psychologists. The current state of psychology in Germany as a nomothetic science is not an ideal basis for the training of professional counsellors in the psychosocial and management fields for example, since practising psychologists mostly handle individual cases, which essentially calls for a qualitative way of working. As a result, the future of psychology will depend not least on the elaboration of qualitative methodological concepts within a pluralistic psychological science. A precondition for safeguarding the identity of the profession is the establishment of a scientific meta-discourse which accepts different methodological approaches to the scientific object. This discourse, using everyday language, is known as protopsychology. Protopsychology has to deal with the assignment of different methodological approaches to special types of situations of social practice in a pluralistic society and thus demonstrate the usefulness of scientific psychological knowledge. On the basis of these arguments, the structure of knowledge production must also be revised, because psychological knowledge will have to be created more in practical psychological activity than in scientific laboratories in the future; otherwise, it will not be possible to transfer it to the work situation of practising psychologists and it will not provide a basis for psychologists to participate in social criticism.

Al estimar las oportunidades futuras de la psicología, aproximadamente diez años después de la fundación del "Neue Gesellschaft für Psychologie (NGfP)", tenemos que considerar la demanda creciente de servicios psicológicos profesionales en un gran número de campos. La demanda de estos servicios, sin embargo, no será automática. El estado actual de la Ciencia Psicológica en Alemania como ciencia nomotética no constituye una base óptima para el entrenamiento de asesores profesionales (por ejemplo en las áreas psicosociales y organizacionales), porque los psicólogos que trabajan en áreas aplicadas requieren de una aproximación cualitativa en su trabajo profesional. Así el futuro de la psicología dependerá de la elaboración de conceptos psicológicos cualitativos dentro de una ciencia pluralista que acepte conceptos metodológicos diferentes. El establecimiento de una meta – discurso científico que incluya diferentes acercamientos metodológicos al objeto de estudio es un requisito para el mantenimiento de la identidad de la psicología como profesión. Este discurso se denominará "Protopsicología" y empleará un lenguaje cotidiano que rebase los términos teóricos. La Protopsicología tiene que tratar con las relaciones entre normas metodológicas diferentes y las instancias particulares de la práctica de una sociedad pluralista y tiene, además, que demostrar la utilidad del conocimiento científico de la psicología. Es sobre estas bases que hay que considerar la estructura de la producción de conocimiento porque el futuro el conocimiento psicológico debe ser creado por medio de trabajos aplicados y no tanto en los laboratorios científicos. Si no se hace de esta manera, este conocimiento no podrá ser transferido por los psicólogos a las situaciones prácticas ni podrá constituir una base para la crítica social.
