Reply to Wolff-Michael Roth's Review Essay "Culture and Identity," published in FQS 4(1)

Abstract

Ich diskutiere ROTHs kritische Besprechung meines Buches Cultural Psychology: Theory & Method und versuche zu zeigen, dass diese Besprechung vor allem aus negativen Meinungen über triviale Aspekte besteht. Es gelingt ROTH nicht, substantielle Bestandteile des Buches aufzugreifen bzw. meine Perspektive mit alternativen Daten oder Theorien zu entkräften. Andere Lesende werden meinem Buch hoffentlich mit einer offenen Haltung begegnen.

I discuss ROTH's critical review of my book Cultural Psychology: Theory & Method and show it to consist primarily of negative opinions about trivial points. He fails to review substantive issues which appear in the book and he fails to rebut my perspective with alternative theoretical or empirical material. Readers will hopefully approach my book with an open mind.

Discuto la revisión crítica de ROTH sobre mi libro Psicología Cultural: Teoría y Método y muestro que consiste principalmente de opiniones negativas sobre puntos triviales. Este autor fracasa al revisar las cuestiones sustantivas del libro y al refutar mi perspectiva con material teórico o empírico alternativo. Con suerte los lectores abordarán mi libro con una mente abierta.
