Das hier besprochene Buch enthält Beiträge einer Tagung zu Autoethnographie, die – organisiert von der Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction – 2000 in St. Petersberg, Florida stattgefunden hat. In 27 Kapiteln geben unterschiedlicher Autor(inn)en Beispiele für Ansätze, die sich um eine Verknüpfung alltagsweltlicher Erfahrung mit sozialwissenschaftlicher Ethnographie bemühen. Die Sammlung und die Tagung, aus der sie hervorgegangen ist, eröffnen kreative Alternativen zu gegenwärtigen sozialwissenschaftlichen Diskussionen.

The reviewed book presents papers and commentary from a conference on autoethnography, held in St. Petersberg, Florida in 2000 sponsored by the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction. It contains twenty-seven chapters by various authors, providing examples of a variety of approaches to connecting personal life experiences with social science ethnographic work. The collection and the conference that it describes propose creative alternatives to discussions in the social sciences.

El libro revisado presenta artículos y comentarios procedentes de una conferencia sobre autoetnografia, realizada en St. Petersberg, Florida en el 2000 que fue financiada por la Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction. Contiene veintisiete capítulos escritos por varios autores, que ofrecen ejemplos de una variedad de enfoques para conectar experiencias de vida personales con el trabajo etnográfico en ciencias sociales.
