Im Beitrag wird die Diskussion um konzeptionelle Verständnisse von reproduktiven Rechten beleuchtet. Reproduktive Selbstbestimmung hat durch andauernde Delegitimierung an politischer Schlagkraft eingebüßt, steht aber auch in der Kritik, weil sie zu häufig als entsolidarisierendes individuelles Recht privilegierter (weißer) Frauen verstanden und praktiziert würde. Dagegen fordern aus antirassistischen Bewegungen entwickelte Ansätze reproduktiver Gerechtigkeit die Fokussierung auf soziale Rechte statt individuelle Freiheiten und den kollektiven Kampf gegen Strukturen reproduktiver Unterdrückung und intersektionale Diskriminierung. Diesen Ansatz teilen auch die internationalen Menschenrechtsausschüsse, die reproduktive Gesundheit als soziales Menschenrecht konzipieren. Doch verfestigte Traditionen menschenverachtender Bevölkerungspolitiken werfen einen langen Schatten und stellen auf Staatenpflichten basierende Reproduktionspolitiken und deren emanzipatorisches und transformatives Potenzial infrage.... view less

This article examines the debate around conceptual understandings of reproductive rights. While reproductive self-determination has lost political clout due to continuous external delegitimisation, it is also criticised for its strong tendency to be understood and executed as an individual right of privileged (white) women. By contrast, approaches to reproductive justice developed from within anti-racist movements focus on social rights rather than individual freedoms and call for collective action to combat structures of reproductive oppression and intersectional discrimination. This approach is shared by international human rights treaty bodies, which conceptualise reproductive health as a social human right. However, the firmly entrenched traditions of inhuman population policies call into question both population policies that are based on state obligations and their emancipatory and transformational potential.... view less
