In einem Interview aus dem Jahre 1994 beschreibt der Soziologe Anselm STRAUSS seine durch den amerikanischen Pragmatismus geprägte intellektuelle Biographie und die von ihm mitgestaltete Entwicklung der interaktionistischen Soziologie von den 40er bis in die 90er Jahre des vorigen Jahrhunderts. Schwerpunkte stellen u.a. die Entwicklung der Methodologie der qualitativen Soziologie nach der Grounded Theory, STRAUSS' Arbeits-, Organisations- und Medizinsoziologische Forschungen und seine Handlungstheorie dar. Zum Schluss werden In einer persönlichen Lebensbilanz des Interviewten sein emanzipatorisches Engagement als American Liberal und seine Leidenschaft für die Erforschung von existenziellen Herausforderungen wie Sterben, psychische Krankheiten und chronische Leiden deutlich. In an interview from 1994 the sociologist Anselm STRAUSS describes his intellectual biography, influenced by American pragmatism, and his development as well as his influence on the interactionistic sociology from 1940s to 1990s. Some of the central points include the development of the methodology of grounded theory, his research in the sociology of work, organization, and health and his theory of action. In conclusion, in his personal life balance, his emancipatory engagement as an American liberal and his passion for the exploration of existential challenges of human being like dying, "madness," and chronic suffering are highlighted. In the appendix the interview is completed by a memo of Anselm's work as a research supervisor and by the original sound track of the interview, which in comparison to the published version is much more detailed.... view less

En una entrevista realizada en 1994 el sociólogo Anselm STRAUSS describe su biografía intelectual, su desarrollo marcado por el pragmatismo americano, así como su influencia sobre la sociología interaccionista de 1940 a 1990. Durante la entrevista se abordan la evolución de la metodología de la Teoría Fundamentada, sus diversos estudios sobre sociología del trabajo, de la organización, de la salud y su teoría de la acción. Finalmente y haciendo un balance personal de su vida, STRAUSS enfatiza su compromiso emancipatorio con el liberalismo americano y su apasionado interés por explorar diversos retos vitales humanos tales como el morir, las enfermedades psíquicas o las crónicas.
