Abstract

Das vorliegende Werk ist von doppeltem Wert: Es entfaltet eine Theorie der politischen Vernunft, die sowohl der Maximierung des Allgemeinwohls verpflichtet ist, als auch Fragen der nationalen Selbstbestimmung und der internationalen Gerechtigkeit berücksichtigt. Desweiteren informiert es die Leser des deutschen Sprachraums über den aktuellen Stand der Auseinandersetzung zwischen der Vertragstheorie Rawls' und den utilitaristischen Gegenpositionen von Parfit, Hare sowie Hardin.

The author lays out a theory of political reason which emphasizes the following idea: maximization of the general welfare of the masses is as much an Obligation as the question of national selfdetermination and international justice.
