Review: Werner Fuchs-Heinritz (2005). Biographische Forschung. Eine Einführung in Praxis und Methoden

Abstract

Werner FUCHS-HEINRITZ verschreibt sich dem Ziel, in die Grundlagen der Biographieforschung einzuführen. Konturiert werden Formen biographischer Kommunikation im Alltag und in institutionellen Kontexten sowie Besonderheiten biographischer Kommunikation im wissenschaftlichen Setting (Interview). Die Geschichte dieses speziellen Zugangs zu subjektiven Konstruktionsleistungen im Bereich "Welt und Ich" findet ebenso Berücksichtigung wie Forschungsziele, die mittels Erhebung und Auswertung biographischer Materialien verfolgt werden. Die Themen Forschungsdesign/-prozess, Güte/Validität qualitativer Verfahren werden verhandelt und verschiedene Auswertungsverfahren vorgestellt. Während FUCHS-HEINRITZ oftmals eine auf (Alltags- oder Wissenschafts-) Praxis bezogene, didaktisch hervorragend ausgearbeitete Einführung von Novizinnen und Novizen gelingt, überzeugt der strukturelle Aufbau der Arbeit häufig nicht. Das den gesamten Text durchziehende Anliegen, Rezipientinnen und Rezipienten umfassend zu informieren, reibt sich mit Anforderungen an eine kohärente Darstellung und einen transparenten Aufbau, denen einführende Texte auf besondere Weise verpflichtet sind.

Werner FUCHS-HEINRITZ introduces the basics of biographical research. He outlines the different forms and structures of biographical communication in everyday life and in institutional contexts, as well as the special features of biographical communication in scientific settings (interviews). The history of this special access to subjective constructions of social reality (constructions of the "world and I") is presented in detail and research objectives, pursued by surveying and interpreting biographical material, are considered. FUCHS-HEINRITZ discusses key topics relating to the research-design process and the assessment of quality and validity in qualitative methods, and describes different evaluation perspectives. While, related to everyday or scientific practice, FUCHS-HEINRITZ often succeeds in presenting a didactically excellent introduction for novices, the structure of his work does not convince at all. His goal of informing novices in a broad way collides with the requirements of providing a coherent text and a transparent setup—requirements which are essential for preparatory texts.

Werner FUCHS-HEINRITZ presenta las bases de la investigación biográfica. Resume las diferentes formas y estructuras de la comunicación biográfica en la vida cotidiana y en contextos institucionales, así como los rasgos especiales de la comunicación biográfica en el escenario científico (las entrevistas). Se presenta detalladamente la historia de esta forma especial de acceder a las construcciones subjetivas de la realidad social (las construcciones de "el mundo y yo") y se consideran los objetivos de la investigación que utiliza el cuestionario y la interpretación del material biográfico. FUCHS-HEINRITZ analiza temas centrales relacionados con el proceso del diseño de investigación, la evaluación de la calidad y validez en los métodos cualitativos, y describe diferentes perspectivas de evaluación. Si bien, en relación con la práctica científica cotidiana, FUCHS-HEINRITZ acierta en presentar una excelente introducción didáctica para los principiantes, la estructura de su trabajo no es en absoluto convincente. Su objetivo de informar a los noveles de un modo amplio choca con los requerimientos de proporcionar un texto coherente y un posicionamiento transparente, requisitos que son esenciales para los textos preliminares.
