Conference Essay: On Snowflakes and Gardens: Multiple Methods in the Field of Psychological Research on Identity Development

Abstract

Der Tagungsbericht gibt einen Überblick über Inhalt und Struktur der internationalen Konferenz "Identity Development – Towards an Integration of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods", welche im November 2005 in Braunschweig stattfand. Sechs eingeladene Redner gewährten dort einen umfassenden Einblick in die aktuelle psychologische Forschung zur Identitätsentwicklung und ermöglichten mittels Plenarveranstaltungen eine ungewöhnlich ausführliche und vertiefte Diskussionen ihrer Vorgehensweise. Alle Vortragenden bezogen sich auf den psychologischen Identitätsstatus-Ansatz und diskutierten dessen Weiterentwicklung sowie mögliche methodische Alternativen. Der Bericht stellt die Einzelbeiträge sowie ausgewählte Themen der Konferenz im Ganzen vor.

This conference report gives an overview of the international conference: "Identity Development—Towards an Integration of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods" that took place in Braunschweig, Germany, in November 2005. The six invited speakers introduced the scope of current psychological approaches to research on identity development by means of plenary sessions and in-depth discussions about their research objectives. All contributions focused on the identity status approach, its advancements and possible alternatives. This report attempts to give a summary of the individual contributions and the conference as a whole.

Este informe ofrece un panorama del congreso internacional titulado: "Desarrollo de la identidad: Hacia una integración de los métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos" que tuvo lugar en Braunschweig, Alemania, en noviembre de 2005. Los seis ponentes invitados plantearon el alcance de las actuales aproximaciones psicológicas a la investigación sobre desarrollo de la identidad, mediante sesiones plenarias y debates en profundidad acerca de sus objetivos de investigación. Todas las contribuciones se centraron en la aproximación al estatus identitario, sus avances y posibles alternativas. Este informe intenta ofrecer un resumen de las aportaciones individuales y del conjunto de la conferencia.
