Review: Cornelia Schweppe (Hrsg.) (2003). Qualitative Forschung in der Sozialpädagogik

Abstract

Der von Cornelia SCHWEPPE vorgelegte Sammelband gibt Orientierung über die Pluralität der verschiedenen Forschungsansätze und Forschungsmethoden im Bereich der Sozialpädagogik, wobei dieser Sprachgebrauch auf den Graben zwischen universitärem Verständnis von Sozialpädagogik und dem Verständnis von Sozialarbeitswissenschaft an Fachhochschulen aufmerksam macht. Das Buch ist keine systematische Dokumentation, sondern ist in theoretische und in methodologische Fragestellungen unterteilt und fragt im Wesentlichen nach dem Selbstverständnis sozialpädagogischer bzw. sozialarbeitswissenschaftlicher Forschung in den ausdifferenzierten Handlungsfeldern der Profession. Die Pluralität der Forschungszugänge ist zugleich auch ein wissenschaftstheoretisches Problem, denn viele Zugänge verweisen auf den Mangel interdisziplinärer Verständigung im Bereich der Sozialarbeitswissenschaft. Der Herausgeberin ist zu danken, dass sie den Diskurs zwischen den verschiedenen professionellen Disziplinen innerhalb der qualitativen Forschung angestoßen und damit auch gezeigt hat, dass Verständigung über das, was sozialpädagogische Forschung sein kann, möglich ist.

Cornelia SCHWEPPE's anthology provides us with a map for finding a way through the various discussions and methods of research concerning social pedagogy, keeping in mind the chasm that exists between the actual conception of social pedagogy that exists in higher education, i.e., at universities and universities of applied sciences (formerly known as polytechnics). The book is by no means a systematic documentation of the subject but, rather, is divided up between topics concerning theory and those regarding methodology. The central question is: How do social researchers in all of their different areas of specialization view the essence of their work? The wide spectrum of approaches to social pedagogy is, likewise, a theoretical issue since this plethora is an indicator of the lack of interdisciplinary understanding of the subject. We can thank the author for triggering discussions amongst the various professionals and researchers in the field of social pedagogy and for demonstrating that communication is possible between the various parties concerned.

La antología de Cornelia SCHWEPPE nos proporciona un mapa para encontrar un camino a través de las diversas discusiones y métodos de investigación vinculados a la pedagogía social, teniendo en mente el abismo que existe entre la concepción actual de pedagogía social en la educación superior, esto es, en las universidades y universidades de ciencias aplicadas (formalmente conocidas como politécnicos). El libro no es una documentación sistemática de la materia, pero está dividido en temas vinculados a teoría y en temas vinculados a metodología. La pregunta central es: ¿Cómo ven los investigadores sociales en sus áreas de especialización la esencia de su trabajo? El amplio espectro de enfoques de la pedagogía social es, similarmente, un tema teórico ya que esta plétora es un indicador de la falta de comprensión interdisciplinaria en la materia. Podemos agradecer al autor por iniciar discusiones entre diversos profesionales e investigadores en el campo de la pedagogía social y demostrar que la comunicación es posible entre las diversas partes involucradas.
