Abstract Psychologische Erkenntnis läßt sich nicht als ein methodisch geklärter, gleichmäßig fortschreitender Prozeß begreifen. Dazu hat ihr Gegenstand eine zu große Komplexität, die nicht ohne Folgen reduziert werden kann. Es bedarf der Integration psychoanalytischen Denkens und der Entwicklung psychoanalytischer Methodik für nicht-klinische psychologische Fragestellungen, um zu "dichten Beschreibungen" psychologischer Sachverhalte zu kommen. In einer kritischen methodologischen Perspektive wird an Aporien wissenschaftlicher Begriffsbildung, dem Problem des Definierens von Begriffen in Psychologie und Psychoanalyse, die Notwendigkeit eines kritisch-hermeneutischen Verfahrens in der Psychologie aufgezeigt. Als ein Weg für mögliche Lösungen der vorgestellten Problematik wird zum Schluß das hermeneutische Experiment in seiner Grundstruktur skizziert.

Discusses problems of psychological epistemology, emphasizing that it cannot be understood as a methodologically explained, steadily progressive process. Its subject is too complex, and cannot be reduced without serious consequences. Psychoanalytic thinking needs to be integrated with the development of psychoanalytic methodology for nonclinical psychological topics in order to arrive at compact descriptions of psychological events. In a critical methodological perspective the author shows the necessity for a critical hermeneutic method in psychology, discussing problems of scientific conceptualization and of defining concepts in psychology and psychoanalysis. The basic structure of the hermeneutic experiment is sketched as a possible solution to the problems discussed.
