O presente estudo investigou a percepção de estudantes de ensino médio acerca de sua motivação para aprender. Participaram 364 alunos, sendo 160 de uma escola particular e 204 de uma escola pública de uma cidade do estado de Minas Gerais. O instrumento utilizado foi a Escala de Avaliação da Motivação para Aprender de Alunos do Ensino Médio. Os resultados evidenciaram que estudar somente o que vai cair na prova e estudar assuntos difíceis foram os itens de maiores médias. Constatou-se que estudantes do gênero masculino e de escola particular obtiveram médias significativamente superiores tanto em motivação intrínseca quanto extrínseca comparativamente àqueles do gênero feminino e de escola pública. Não foram observadas interações entre gênero e tipo de escola nas duas modalidades de motivação investigadas.... view less

The present study investigated High School students' perception about their motivation to learn. The participants were 364 students, being 160 from a private school and 204 from a public school located in a city of Minas Gerais state. High School Students' Motivation to Learn Evaluation Scale was completed by the participants. The results indicated that the items with the highest means were study what will be evaluated in the test and study difficult issues. It was observed that male students and those from the private school obtained significantly higher means both in intrinsic and extrinsic motivation comparing to female students and those from the public school. The interactions between gender and type of school in the two modalities of motivation investigated were not significant.... view less
