Objective: Analyze the publications focusing on the administration of drugs in nursing care which were made available in the databases within the period from 2007 to 2011. Method: This is an integrative review study carried out in databases of the Virtual Health Library (LILACS and SciELO), in May and June 2011. Results: In the discussions stood out: training with the aid of the virtual learning environment through distance education, errors in prescriptions which led to errors in drug administration, and importance of prevention to avoid mistakes. Conclusion: If the prescriptions are prepared having guidelines, recommendations, and team training as a basis, besides communication between the professionals, one may say that the risks related to errors in drug administration tend to sharply decrease.... view less
