Objective: this study aims to analyzing the knowledge of nurses from the Family Health Strategy in relation to sexual diversity and homophobia. Method: this is an exploratory, qualitative research conducted with 12 nurses. We used a semi-structured interview and for analysis, Technical Analysis Speech Eni Orlandi, making analogy with the results with metaphor. This study had the project approved by the Research Ethics Committee, CAAE 0031.0.428.000-11. Results: the nurses have reported sexual diversity as sexual orientation system and biological sex. About homophobia, they attributed coherent meanings. However, having regard to the expression of "implicit homophobia" or "symbolic". Conclusion: it is urgent to promote health through the recognition of social determinants; therefore, the experience and the approach with existing sexual multiplicity in the area limited to nurses can be presented as a way of addressing the issues related to sexual diversity.... view less
