Objective: to identify the interference of stress on the health of nursing workers at the hospital environment; describe the problems due to stress in these professionals and to evaluate the relationship of stress as a risk factor to the propensity of cancer in nursing workers' health at the hospital environment. Method: it is an exploratory descriptive research with a qualitative approach. It was approved by the Ethics and Research under CAAE number 05818412.4.0000.5243. Results: it was observed that nursing professionals of both sectors suffer various stressful situations in their working environment, overloading and stressing. Conclusion: there must be done many things to avoid these stressful situations for both the professional nursing and other professionals since the occupational stress can cause serious problems for the worker's health.... view less
