La formación del concepto de resiliencia empresarial: análisis cualitativo para el caso de los/as percebeiros/as de la cofradía de Baiona (España)

Abstract

La resiliencia se plantea en dirección de empresas como una alternativa para enfrentar la turbulencia ambiental. Este concepto hace referencia a la capacidad dinámica de una empresa de enfrentarse con éxito a situaciones que ponen en riesgo su supervivencia, y, sobre la base del aprendizaje acumulado, desarrollar procesos de metamorfosis que deforman su estado previo. En este artículo revisamos cómo se ha empleado en otros campos, delimitamos el concepto, subrayamos el vínculo con las capacidades dinámicas y planteamos una aplicación práctica de resiliencia empresarial. El estudio recurre a la metodología cualitativa, con un análisis documental de contenido para el caso de los/as percebeiros/as gallegos/as de Baiona (España) entre 2002 y 2012. Los resultados obtenidos reflejan el desarrollo de la resiliencia empresarial como capacidad dinámica, que ha permitido la deformación de unas estructuras para generar otras más viables.

Resilience, defined here as the ability to recover from a setback, is used in business management as a way to face speed of change and the complexity and limited availability of information in a corporate environment. Business resilience refers to the dynamic capabilities of a company to cope successfully with situations that threaten its survival, and on the basis of the accumulated learning it transforms its previous state or organizational form. In this article, we expand the definition of resilience for its use in other endeavors. We delimit the concept and stress the link with dynamic capabilities and we propose a practical application of business resilience. The study uses the qualitative methodology of document content analysis of the Baiona Galician barnacle collectors' case in Spain from 2002 to 2012. Analyzed documents are mainly newspaper articles, electronic archives of different media, and other websites. The case under study focuses on the analysis of those fishing professionals who work in collecting barnacles in Galicia, given that they have faced different setbacks in their work contexts and have addressed them through changes in organizational form. Findings reflect the development of business resilience as a dynamic capability, which has allowed the change of some structures to generate others more viable. (author's abstract)

Resilienz, verstanden als Kompetenz zur Krisenbewältigung, äußert sich in unternehmerischen Kontexten u.a. in der Fähigkeit, mit beschleunigtem Wandel, Komplexität und geringer Verfügbarkeit von Informationen produktiv umzugehen. Für Unternehmen bezieht sich Resilienz auf deren dynamisches Vermögen, erfolgreich Situationen zu meistern, die die eigene Existenz gefährden, indem auf der Basis akkumulierten Wissens eine Transformation von Organisationsformen erfolgt. In unserem Beitrag erweitern wir diese Definition um zusätzliche Kontexte und fokussieren insbesondere dynamische Fertigkeiten an einem Fallbeispiel. Hierfür haben wir auf die inhaltsanalytische Auswertung von Dokumenten zurückgegriffen, die im Zusammenhang mit dem Sammeln von Rankenfußkrebsen in der Stadt Baiona in der spanischen Provinz Galicien zwischen 2002 bis 2012 erstellt wurden. Es handelt sich insbesondere um Zeitschriftenartikel, um in verschiedenen elektronischen Archiven vorgehaltene Medien und um Informationen von Webseiten. Akteure sind Fischer, die am Krebssammeln in Galicien beteiligt sind und die eine tlw. schwierige Situation durchlaufen haben, verbunden mit einer organisatorischen Umorganisation. Die Ergebnisse reflektieren die Herausbildung unternehmerischer Resilienz als dynamischer Fertigkeit, existierende dysfunktionale Strukturen durch praktikablere zu ersetzen. (Autorenreferat)
