(Autorenreferat)... view less

Blockupy in Germany is one of the broadest attempts to politicize the European austerity measures, which have been installed throughout Europe since 2010. Overall it can be spoken of the production of a "political moment". What allowed Blockupy to form itself as collective political subject was not least the combination of embedding the protest in the Global City Frankfurt with the practices of civil disobedience. Following up on Lefebvre, Laclau/Mouffe as well as Rancière the relations between dissident productions of space, the historical formation of the crisis and the constitution of Frankfurt as stage for the protests are highlighted. The aim is to elaborate that space as such can never be a mere backdrop; it is on the contrary always contested, has to be formed and is importantly part of change itself.
