Abstract

"Der Beitrag versucht, einen der modernen, kulturell heterogenen Gesellschaft angemessenen Begriff von sozialer Integration von Immigrant(inn)en zu definieren. Nach der Diskussion von drei klassischen Integrationsansätzen (Park; Gordon; Esser), die von einer Assimilation in einer als kulturell homogen gedachten Gesellschaft ausgehen, wird ein Begriff von Integration begründet, der vier Merkmale umfasst: Orientierung am gesellschaftlichen Standard, Zweiseitigkeit, Prozesshaftigkeit und Multidimensionalität. Der Beitrag schließt mit Thesen zu einer multikulturellen Stadtpolitik." (Autorenreferat)

"The article aims to define the social integration of immigrants in a way that takes into consideration the cultural plurality of modern societies. Following the discussion of three classical approaches (Park; Gordon; Esser) which are based on the idea of assimilation in a culturally homogeneous society, a concept of integration is proposed that comprises four attributes: orientation towards the societal standards, two-sidedness, emphasis on integration as a process, and multi-dimensionality.
