Abstract	'Der vorliegende Bericht ist der erste Teil einer Untersuchung, die sich mit der Entwicklung der Kleinunternehmen (KU) in Rußland befaßt. Er konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung, Leistung und Probleme der russischen KU ab Mitte der 90er Jahre, während Teil II (Nr. 46) die wirtschaftspolitischen und institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen der russischen KU im selben Zeitraum erörtert. Was die Quellen anbelangt, so beruhen beide Berichte auf offiziellen Dokumenten, Fach- und Presseveröffentlichungen sowie Forschungen und Umfragen des Russischen Unabhängigen Forschungsinstituts (RUFI), Moskau.' (Textauszug) 'The present report is the first part of a study dealing with the development of small businesses in Russia. It concentrates on the development, performance and problems of Russian small businesses as of the middle of the 90s, while part II (No. 46) discusses the economic-policy and institutional background conditions for Russian small businesses in the same time period. For their sources, both reports draw upon official documents, specialist and press publications, and research projects and surveys conducted by the Russian Independent Research Institute (RIRI), Moscow.'
