Abstract

'Am 17. Dezember 1995 wurde zum ersten Mal die Staatsduma für die Dauer einer normalen Legislaturperiode von vier Jahren gewählt. Sie wird schon allein deshalb größere politische Bedeutung erhalten als ihre Vorgängerin. Die Wahl erfolgte auf der Grundlage einer bereits geltenden Verfassung und eines Wahlgesetzes. Das Wahlergebnis stellt zugleich die politischen Weichen für die Präsidentschaftswahl am 16. Juni 1996.' (Autorenreferat)

'On 17 December 1995 the State Duma was for the first time elected for a normal legislative period of four years. If only for this reason, therefore, the current Duma will carry greater political significance than its predecessor. The elections took place on the basis of a constitution that was already in force and an election law. The outcome of the elections can at the same time be considered a political indicator for the forthcoming presidential elections on 16 June 1996.' (author's abstract)
