Abstract	"Das Wort 'postmodern' ist zu einem Schlagwort geworden. Das Vaterland der Postmoderne ist. Frankreich, aber immer mehr erobert sie auch den deutschen Diskurs. Ursprünglich auf Philosophie, schöne Literatur und Kunst beschränkt, dringt die Postmoderne immer mehr in die politische und politikwissenschaftliche Thematik ein. Dabei kann man auch die Tendenz feststellen, das heutige Osteuropa als eine postmoderne Realität zu betrachten. Wie alles Neue und Fragwürdige bereitet auch die Postmoderne Schwierigkeiten. Das Ziel des vorliegenden Berichts besteht in der Überprüfung des Begriffs der Postmoderne auf seine Relevanz und Anwendbarkeit auf die osteuropäische Realität und gegebenenfalls auf die Osteuropaforschung: Somit besitzt diese Arbeit auch einen methodologischen Aspekt. Es handelt sich um Erscheinungen, die allen ehemaligen kommunistischen Ländern in Osteuropa eigen sind, aber natürlich hier nicht in einer allumfassenden Weise dargestellt werden können." (Textauszug) "The term 'postmodern' has become a catchword. Originating in France, it has increasingly come to dominate German discourse as well. While the term postmodern was originally applied only to philosophy, literature and art, it has increasingly found its way into politics and political science and one can discern a tendency to regard contemporary East Europe as postmodern. Like anything new and controversial, postmodernism presents certain difficulties. The aim of the present report is to examine whether it is relevant and legitimate to apply the term postmodern to East European realities or, in some cases, to research an Eastern Europe. In that respect, this report also attends to methodological issues. The phenomena being examined are common features of all formerly communist countries in Eastern Europe, though they cannot, of course, be portrayed in detail here." (extract)
