"This paper investigates the factors causing poverty despite employment for the years 2003 and 2006 in Germany. The analysis in both cross-sectional and longitudinal perspective is based on data of the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (GSOEP). The results show that low-wage employment, part-time employment, household structure and certain socio-economic factors are the major causes for in-work-poverty. In the observed time period only the effects of part-time employment (namely 'mini-jobs') on poverty got strengthened." (author's abstract)... view less
