"In the discourses of sexual violence by men against women one widespread assumption is that this has nothing to do with sexuality. Contrary to the concept of sexual violence, the authors prefer that of 'sexualized violence'. This is intended to express the fact that sexuality only plays a role insofar as it is exploited as a 'means' of exerting violence. The only purpose of sexual violence is to demonstrate and exercise power by sexually humiliating the victim. The 'volatilization of sexuality' (Parin) from this discussion has serious consequences for the psychology of the offender. Reducing the offenders' motives to the mere exercise of power under the exploitative use of sexuality is a crucial problem, because ultimately, this argument supports - albeit unintentionally - narcissistic-phallocentric male fantasies. The strict separation of sexuality and violence leads to a harmonious glorification of sexuality, which prevents the social criticism and political analysis of sexuality and obscures the specific cruelty of sexual violence."
