(Autorenreferat)... view less

"The labor force participation of mothers differs foremost corresponding to the age of their children. This is based on several reasons. This study applies an expanded labor supply model in which the effect of the household production as well as the individual and institutional childcare is identified and quantified as important covariates. The identified covariates influence both the dichotomous decision to participate in the labor force and the degree of the realized labor supply. Special attention must be paid to the willingness of the mothers to participate in the labor force during this family phase, which can be captured and implemented through individual values. This individual values are constantly interacting with the social predominant ones. An international comparison shows distinct differences of the influence of these value systems on the labor supply." (author's abstract)... view less
