"The principle of consumer sovereignty is recently increasingly criticized from the perspective of environmental ethics. The main subjects of this criticism are the instability of consumers preferences, incomplete knowledge of individuals referring to their real preferences and a hierarchy of preferences. In this paper, however, it is argued that although these objections against consumer sovereignty provide good reasons for restrictions of the concept, there is no need to give up the principle completely."
