Gegenstand des Aufsatzes ist das Verhältnis zwischen Unternehmensethik und Controlling. Der Verfasser vertritt die Auffassung, dass die Unternehmensethik die Grenzen des Controlling festschreibt: sowohl die Festlegung der Unternehmensziele als auch die Auswahl geeigneter Mittel zur Erreichung dieser Ziele müssen ethisch gerechtfertigt werden. In diesem Kontext muss Controlling ethischem Verhalten Einhalt gebieten, wenn es nicht zum Gewinn des Unternehmens beiträgt, und ethisches Verhalten fördern, wenn es zur Erreichung der Unternehmensziele beiträgt, ob profitorientiert oder nicht. "The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relation between the concept of business ethics and management control. It is argued that business ethics define the limits of management control: the definition of overall ends and the selection of appropriate means both have to be ethically justified. Within this context management control has to impede ethical behavior, if it does not contribute to company profits, and promote the same behavior, if it does contribute to the company's objectives - profitoriented or not.
