| Abstract | Die Runden Tische, die in der DDR 1989/90 ins Leben gerufen wurden, verstanden sich nicht als demokratische Institutionen, sondern als dringend benötigte Instrumente zur Bewältigung der Krise und für Demokratisierung. Die Verfasserin untersucht den Beitrag der Runden Tische zum Demokratisierungsprozess. Es geht um die Ziele, Verfahrensweisen und Erfolgschancen der 15 Organisationen sowie um die Zusammenarbeit mit den staatlichen Institutionen. (ICEÜbers) 'The Round Tables founded in the GDR in 1989/90 did not understand themselves as democratic institutions but as urgently necessary tools for coping with the crisis and for democratization. The following contribution asks about in which way the Round Tables of the districts contributed to the democratization process. In this context, against the background of common and different features it is most of all about the respective goals, ways of proceeding and opportunities of a successful activity of the 15 bodies as well as about the modes of cooperation with the state's district institutions.'
