'The article deals with the different adaptations of the Fascist concept of Europe which were elaborated by Spanish Fascist milieus from 1939 to 1945, and stresses the importance of Catholicism as a component of the contradictory European views of Phalangists. There was also an ambivalent idea of what Eastern Europe and particularly Russia was, which in its turn was very impregnated by the image of the enemy which had been expanded by Francoist propaganda during the Spanish Civil War. The experience of more than 40,000 Spanish volunteers, who fought alongside with the German Army at the Eastern Front between 1941 and 1944, contributed decisively to make Spanish Fascism aware of the ignored realities of the Eastern scenario, namely the war of extermination, the otherness concepts Developer by Nazi occupation policy, and the massacres against the Jews and other population groups. The image developed by Spanish Fascists in Russia was transmitted through the Francoist period as an original synthesis of Catholic and Nazi worldviews, and permeated the image of Eastern Europe which has propagated by the Franco regime.'
