| Abstract | "Die Bedeutung von Kindern und deren Wohlergehen für die Zukunft von Gesellschaften findet allerorten Zustimmung. Die Untersuchung materieller Benachteiligung von Kindern hat dabei für Politik, Medien und Gesellschaft eine enorme Bedeutung. Auf Grund unterschiedlichster Berechnungsmöglichkeiten sind Kinderarmutszahlen allerdings oft weit davon entfernt, miteinander vergleichbar zu sein. Ein genaues Hinschauen bei Herkunft und Berechnung dieser Zahlen ist unbedingt notwendig, um möglichen Fehlinterpretationen vorzubeugen." The investigation of material deprivation of children in politics, the media and society is of enormous importance. However, due to different calculation methods child poverty figures are often far from being comparable.
