| Abstract | "Der Mainstream der deutschen Öffentlichkeit kritisierte George W. Bush vor allem für seinen als hemdsärmelig empfundenen Politikstil und seine polarisierende Rhetorik. Die Ambivalenz in Bushs Politikstil besteht vor allem darin, radikale politische Inhalte durch eine betont naive Ausdrucksweise zu vermitteln. Eine detaillierte Analyse der Wahrnehmung Bushs in den deutschen Tageszeitungen Süddeutsche Zeitung und Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung zeigt nun, dass dieser ambivalente Politikstil stärker Eingang in die deutsche Medienberichterstattung fand als im Rückblick angenommen." (Autorenreferat) "The mainstream of the German public sphere criticized George W. Bush for his primitive political style and polarizing rhetoric. The ambivalence in Bush's political representation was based, above all, in conveying radical political content through a marked naïve mode of expression. A detailed analysis of Bush's performance in the German daily newspapers Süddeutsche Zeitung and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung shows that this ambivalent political style influenced the German media reports more as assumed in retrospect."
