Koordination und Verteilung: zwei Ansätze der Wirtschaftssoziologie

Abstract

"Die Problematik der Ungewissheit hat sich zu einem zentralen theoretischen Ausgangspunkt wirtschaftssoziologischer Forschung entwickelt. Das Papier diskutiert die Frage, inwieweit Ungewissheit tatsächlich als paradigmatischer Ansatzpunkt zur Untersuchung wirtschaftlicher Phänomene aus soziologischer Perspektive dienen kann. Ich argumentiere, dass die durch den Ausgang beim Problem der Ungewissheit in den Vordergrund rückende Problematik der sozialen Koordinierung wirtschaftlichen Handelns nur einen Teil der soziologisch relevanten Fragestellungen bei der Untersuchung ökonomischer Phänomene in den Blick geraten lässt. Zu wenig beachtet werden Fragen der Verteilung des in der Wirtschaft erzeugten Reichtums und der im Wirtschaftssystem und der Gesellschaft darum geführten politischen und sozialen Kämpfe. Diese Fragen stärker in die wirtschaftssoziologische Forschung einzubeziehen, verlangt, die Ordnungsprozesse in der Wirtschaft stärker als Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Akteuren zu verstehen, in denen sie versuchen, soziale Strukturen entsprechend ihrer materiellen und ideellen Interessen zu gestalten. Diesen Aspekt vermehrt in die wirtschaftssoziologische Forschung einzubeziehen, ist nicht inkompatibel mit der Formulierung des Ansatzes der Wirtschaftssoziologie von der Problematik der Ungewissheit her, verlangt jedoch dessen Ausweitung." "Uncertainty has become a central theoretical vantage point in economic sociology. This paper explores the question of whether uncertainty can actually be the paradigmatic vantage point for a sociological perspective on the economy. I argue that issues relating to the social coordination of economic activity, which are the main focus of such an approach, only address a subset of the sociologically relevant questions regarding the economy. Too little attention is being paid to the political and social conflicts surrounding the distribution of economic wealth. To give these issues greater priority in research in economic sociology, we need to alter our perception of the organization of the economy, viewing it as a process of struggle between actors vying to shape economic structures in ways that promote their material and ideal interests. While this proposal is not incompatible with developing an approach to economic sociology based on the problem of uncertainty, it does require that such an approach be put on a wider footing."
