(Autorenreferat)'The paramount importance which global financial markets have taken on for the global economy since the 1980s rests on the development of specific financial market rationality and on its establishment as the prevailing order justifying economic action. Financial market rationality is conceived as a type of bounded rationality on a conventional basis. In as far as it gives economic actors the possibility to justify their action as reasonable and legitimate, it serves as a resource of power in its own right. At the same time it always has to be specified by bargaining and consideration. The conditions for establishing and the principles of functioning of financial market rationality are analysed as the interplay of modern financial economics, political regulation, and bargaining of different categories of economic actors. Special focus is placed on problems of financial risk analysis, financialised corporate strategies, and on changes in social relations of power and income as an outcome of financialised economic action.'
