Marlen Haushofers Roman "Die Wand" kann als Robinsonade aufgefasst werden. Durch eine unüberwindliche Wand wird alles Leben vernichtet, nur die Protagonistin überlebt abgeschieden zusammen mit ihren Tieren in einem Alpental. Ihr Bericht, der den Roman bildet, informiert über die zum Überleben notwendige Arbeit, das Zusammenleben mit den Tieren und auch über ihr Leben früher. Es werden dabei irritierende Szenen und Bilder entworfen, die bei der Lektüre einen latenten Sinn spürbar machen, dem die psychoanalytisch-tiefenhermeneutische Interpretation nachspürt. Anknüpfend an das Leseerlebnis, an Irritationen und Assoziationen wird erschlossen, welche Konflikte die Szenen und Bilder bestimmen: Ablehnung und zugleich Identifikation mit den Tätern, liebende Sorge und Aggression, mütterliche Zuwendung und Gefühlsentzug, lebenserhaltende Aktivität und Depression. So wird ein Panorama von problematischen Lebensentwürfen sichtbar, das sich mit dem Begriff von Mütterlichkeit verbindet.... view less

Marlen Haushofer's novel can be understood as a Robinsonade. Through an insurmountable wall all life is destroyed, only the protagonist survives in a secluded valley in the Alps together with her animals. The novel is constituted by her report, which informs the readers about the things she has to do in order to survive, about her cohabitation with the animals and her former life. It presents irritating pictures and scenes, which let us feel that there is a latent meaning which is to be traced by psychoanalytical-depth-hermeneutical interpretation. Basing on the process of reading, on irritations and associations this type of interpretation reveals the conflicts that determine the scenes and pictures: both rejection of and identification with the ones who are responsible for the situation, a loving concern and aggression, motherly affection and a withdrawal of emotions, life-saving activity and depression. Thus, a panorama of problematic drafts of life is to be seen which is connected with the idea of motherliness.... view less
