Abstract Im Rahmen von philosophischen Überlegungen zur Psychologie wird konstatiert, dass sich das wissenschaftliche Fach Psychologie nach gut einem Jahrhundert der Produktion von Antworten als zersplittert in verschiedene Grundsatzorientierungen darstellt, insbesondere in den Traditionen der geisteswissenschaftlichen und der naturwissenschaftlichen Wurzeln, der qualitativ-hermeneutischen und der quantitativ-nomothetischen Methodologie. Weitgehend abgetrennt davon hat sich die Psychologie aber in verschiedenen Bereichen psychologischer Anwendungspraxis in der Gesellschaft als sehr erfolgreich und anerkannt etabliert. In dieser Situation scheint es sinnvoll, Grundsatzstreitigkeiten zwischen Positionen mit Alleinvertretungsanspruch und das Pendeln zwischen Modeströmungen aufzugeben und statt dessen nach einem integrativen Identitätskonzept für das Fach zu suchen. Dazu werden einige kritische Fragen formuliert, die sich an erfolgversprechenden Erfahrungen von Integration in der Praxis orientieren.

After a century of producing answers scientific psychology turns out to be divided in different fundamental positions, especially in the tradition of the roots in human sciences vs. natural sciences, the qualitative-hermeneutical vs. the quantitative-nomothetic methodology. To a large extend separated from these conflicts and discussions psychology became rather successfully established in several areas of application practice. In this situation it seems to make sense to give up fundamental discussions from positions with demand of sole representation and following fashions of science and look for an integrative common concept for the identity of the discipline. For this some critical questions are formulated, which are orientated in promising experiences in psychological practice. These questions give a background for the following exemplary discussion from the view of philosophy on psychology and for further discourses.
