| Abstract | "This book describes the development of an instrument for the measurement of ethnicity in cross-national comparative survey research. First, we identify the data that must to be collected on ethnicity as a core variable. Second, we examine the way in which the national statistics offices of the European Union member states and the major social surveys handle this theme. Third, we present our own instrument for the measurement of ethnicity as a background variable in cross-national comparative survey research." (author's abstract) |
