'Starting with a short overview over the development of regional statistics in the FRG some central aspects of regionalisation of survey data discussed. Theoretical background is the social-spatial differentiation approach. Data bases of social background characteristics available for survey researchers are considered as well as the appropriateness of regional level being reasonable for regionalising national survey data. Additionally, a set of indices facilitating the interpretation of survey data is presented.' (author's abstract)|... view less
