(Autorenreferat)... view less

'In empirical social research the concept of significance testing is one of the most frequently used statistical instruments in search of new findings. The transformation of various substantive questions into the same statistical hypothesis without consideration of context leads to the problem that for many test results that are statistically significant there is a lack of practical relevance. And the more accurate the experiment, the greater is the problem. This paper shows a way out of this significance-relevance-problem. It consists of a theoretical modification of the strategy used in significance testing, which leads us from tests of significance to tests of relevance. This strategy is shown and applied to various statistical tests.' (author's abstract)|... view less
