'Die traditionellen männlichen Lebensläufe mit ihrer institutionell abgesicherten Abfolge von Ausbildung, Beruf und Ruhestand erodieren, verlieren an Orientierungskraft und Sicherheitsversprechen. Die Flexibilisierung von Arbeitsverhältnissen und Tätigkeitsstrukturen verlangt zunehmend individuelle Anstrengungen, um eine sinnvolle Tätigkeit, ausreichendes Einkommen und eine Balance von Arbeit und Leben zu erreichen. Zu den wenigen Instrumenten, die Flexibilität in der Erwerbstätigkeit mit sozialer Stabilität in einer neuen Weise kombinieren, gehören betriebliche Zeitkonten. Die breite Einführung unbegrenzter Langzeitkonten könnte ein wichtiger Baustein für eine neue, integrierte Lebenslaufpolitik sein. Im Artikel wird die Verbreitung und Ausgestaltung von Langzeitkonten dargestellt und geprüft, welche Problemlagen die Entfaltung ihres Potenzials behindern oder begrenzen.' 'The traditional male course of life, an institutionally supported sequence of education, profession and retirement, is eroding and provides no longer orientation and security. Increasingly flexible work contracts and job structures require more individual efforts from employees in order to achieve a desirable job, sufficient income and a work-life-balance. Firm-based working time accounts represent one of the few instruments that combine flexibility at work with social security in a novel way. A widespread dissemination of long-term working time accounts could be an important step towards a newly integrated course of life policy. The article presents an overview of the dissemination and characteristics of long-term working time accounts and discusses the problems that constrain the full development of their potentials.'
