Abstract	'Gegenstand der Untersuchung ist die Teilnahme älterer Menschen an postalischen Befragungen unter jeweils variierenden Bedingungen der Kontaktierung (anonymer/ nicht-anonymer Fragebogen; unterschiedliche Begleitschreiben). Es wird gezeigt, dass auch in postalischen Befragungen zu sensiblen Themen (NS-Zeit) bei über 70jährigen Menschen Ausschöpfungsquoten möglich sind, die denen von face-to-face oder telefonischen allgemeinen Bevölkerungsumfragen gleichen. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Erwartungen sind die Alten größtenteils in der Lage, eigenständig den Fragebogen zu beantworten. Die Zahl fehlender Werte ist niedrig und erweist sich primär als Funktion der Bildung und der Motivation zur Beantwortung des Fragebogens. Fehlende Werte aufgrund von Missverständnissen bei Wechsel des Frageformats hingegen werden primär durch fehlende Hilfe bei der Beantwortung, Bildung und auch das Alter des Befragten mitbeeinflusst.' (Autorenreferat) 'The object of the study is the participation of elder people in mail survey under varying conditions of establishing contact (anonymous vs. non-anonymous questionnaire, different arguments). It is shown that it is possible in mail surveys of people over 70 years old on sensitive topics (the period of national socialism) to obtain a response rate which is comparable to face-to face and telephone surveys of the general population. In contrast to common assumptions the elder are mostly able to fill in the questionnaire by themselves. The number of missing values is low and primarily influenced by education and the motivation to cooperate in the survey. Missing values due to misunderstandings because of format change on the other hand are primarily influenced by the lack support in answering the questionnaire, education and also age.'
